Over the past month, Lancaster Stands Up has been working hard to provide our community with information on state house and senate candidates. We sent out a questionnaire asking for the candidates’ positions on a range of issues. We invited each candidate to speak at a public forum, giving them an opportunity to engage with community members.
Our People’s Forum took place on June 7th at Tellus360. We were glad to have Suzanne Delahunt, Jen Porter, Dana Hamp-Gulick, Mary Auker-Endres, Michele Wherley, and Dale Hamby on our candidate panel. A representative for Bill Troutman spoke briefly on the candidate’s views, and Michael Eichenlaub, a write-in candidate, spoke about his own campaign. Click here to watch a recording of the People’s Forum.
After each candidate gave an introduction, audience members had the opportunity to ask questions about the candidates’ backgrounds and stances on issues. These include low-income housing, the war on drugs, gun control, and environmental policy. After the forum, a candidate fair gave attendees an opportunity to talk with the candidates.
The People’s Forum was held in place of our monthly members meeting. Members of LSU can vote to endorse candidates—just one of the ways LSU members shape our work in Lancaster County. Read more about membership with Lancaster Stands Up.
