YWCA Lancaster is sponsoring a bus to the National March for Racial Justice this Sept. 30. Below is a description from their team:
"YWCA Lancaster is proud to lead local communities in the National March for Racial Justice, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Due to transportation, we will leave promptly at 6 a.m. from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602 and will return at approximately 9 p.m., as we will be stopping for dinner.
September 30th marks the anniversary one of the deadliest massacres in the history of the US - the Elaine Massacre in Arkansas. The Massacre would end in the murder of 237 (up to 300) Black men, women and children and 5 White men, the unjust imprisonment of 122 and the unjust execution of 12. We honor those lives.
We march on the anniversary of their sacrifice because we see the resurgence of white supremacy and seek to change the current course - for our future. Marching on the anniversary of the Elaine Massacre is a solemn reminder that the road to racial justice is long and weary, but we always persist."
