Every week since Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was rescinded by the Trump Administration in September, over 850 DACA recipients nationally lose their protections from deportation. The uncertainty affecting DREAMers, their families, schools, and communities needs to end now. That’s why Lancaster Stands Up is partnering with other local organizations for DREAM Week.

Join us starting Friday, Dec 1 for a Week of Action to pass a clean DREAM Act.

There are three things that everyone can do this week to support Dreamers:

1. Call your Senators and Representatives

2. Write a letter in support of Dreamers

3. Promote DREAM Week events on social media

More information on each of these action steps is below. Please take action and make Lancaster’s DREAM week really big!

Script for Calling A Congressional Member

My name is ________. I am calling to express my discontent with the White House’s decision to end DACA in September and ask Senator/Representative ______ to support legislative action that will protect immigrants affected by the termination of DACA by the end of this year. More than eight hundred thousand lives are affected because of the president’s decision to end DACA, and now it is time for Congress to pass a law that would provide a pathway to citizenship for this group of immigrants. Does Senator/Representative _____ currently support the Dream Act? (S. 1615 in the Senate, and H.R. 3440 in the House).

If YES :
Great! Thank you for the Senator’s/Representative’s support for this critical legislation. Have a great day.

If NO :
Why is senator/representative not supporting the Dream Act?

After they inform you of the reason:
There are 800,000 DACA beneficiaries in this country that pay taxes, attend our colleges and universities, and contribute substantially to our communities as doctors, lawyers, teachers, social workers, business owners and more. The termination of the DACA program will reduce the U.S. GDP by more than $400 billion over the next decade unless legislation is passed. I urge Senator/Representative _______ to reconsider their decision and to support passing bipartisan legislation for undocumented youth. Thank you for your time.
