The best way to get involved as a volunteer with Lancaster Stands Up is to join a working group. Some of our working groups focus on specific issues (e.g., Healthcare or Immigration), while others help to build our overall capacity (e.g., Administration or Onboarding & Training). Every hour of volunteer time helps to build our collective capacity to turn things around. So please get involved!
We stand with our immigrant, undocumented, and refugee sisters and brothers. The Immigration working group focuses on providing support (legal, etc.) to immigrants in our community, promoting sanctuary efforts, and educating the broader public.
We believe that healthcare is a human right. We are working to stop the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, while ultimately working to guarantee Medicare For All.
Hold Them Accountable
Hold Them Accountable is Lancaster Stands Up's legislative action working group. It focuses on pressuring local and PA politicians to representative all of us, not just billionaires or Washington insiders.
We believe that investing in public education is crucial to our democracy, our economy, and our future. This working group focuses on taking action related to promoting public education, and countering attacks on public education.
The administration working group helps with data entry, sign-in at events, and Lancaster Stands Up’s organizational infrastructure.
Outreach & Canvass
The Outreach & Canvass working group does outreach, phonebanking, and door-to-door canvassing, to talk to our neighbors about issues of common concern, and to invite them to attend events and participate in local efforts and campaigns.
On-boarding & Training
The On-boarding & Training working group focuses on orienting new volunteers to Lancaster Stands Up, plugging them into the work, and providing skills training and leadership development opportunities.
